Book : )

In spanish its called "Un mundo feliz" but I searched for it on Amazon.com and found that the name is "Brave new world" written by Aldous Huxley.

"Community, Identity, Stability" is the motto of Aldous Huxley's utopian World State. Here everyone consumes daily grams of soma, to fight depression, babies are born in laboratories, and the most popular form of entertainment is a "Feelie," a movie that stimulates the senses of sight, hearing, and touch. Though there is no violence and everyone is provided for, Bernard Marx feels something is missing and senses his relationship with a young women has the potential to be much more than the confines of their existence allow. Huxley foreshadowed many of the practices and gadgets we take for granted today--let's hope the sterility and absence of individuality he predicted aren't yet to come. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. I finish reading it yesterday, and it like it very much...., sometimes I even think that today society shall have some of the points he describes it in the book where the concept of "individual" doesn´t exist at all, but as I said "ONLY SOMETIMES!!!" because somehow that would create a kind of order, balance and equity in this unbalanced world.

We can see in nature, ants for example since the first moment they born they already have a place and a described function in their society, for example the workers ants are going to be workers for the rest of their lives until they die, you won´t never see a worker ant becoming a warrior, or become king or something like that.., that´s how they keep their balance, and we can see that panorama in other species..., but the problem comes when the species can think and when the species can make questions about his own life..., when it sees differences...

In the other hand, a question that just came to my mind.., what would happen if in Huxley´s society people ran out of "soma"?? if for any reason the natural resources used to make it just ran out ?? I guess they would figure something else out, but in the meantime their society would become a chaos !!! So, he´s world is not perfect at all for the simple reason that people is not happy, and that´s why they need to be taking that pills all the time..., so is it really worth it to have a balanced world if people is unhappy? Switzerland for example is somehow a "perfect" country full of beauty, full of nature and with no crime, no poverty, no hunger, no nothing !!! But is the country with the HIGHEST rate of suicide !!!!!
Latin America, one of the most poor continets in the world, acording to a research is where people lives more happier !!! and if we take a deep look we have a lot of poverty, crime, and I can continue listing things here... BUT that´s what makes the difference, that´s what makes that every day counts ! that every day is different and has its own flavor !! Maybe the feeling that we don´t know how tomorrow is going to be is what keep us like that..

I guess unbalance is the price that we have to pay for being happy......
